My parents (in-law’s, actually) are in their late 50′s, and should be preparing for retirement. In stead, they are spending erratically, racking up massive credit card debt, remodeling their home, etc. Yesterday they asked me to cosign a personal loan, which they plan to use to pay back a payday advance from a predatory lender. How to I help my parents without jeopardizing my financial security, too? Any money I give (I don’t lend money to family) is that much less I have for my kid’s college accounts.

While searching my name over the internet I found a blog written by a man that claims I owe him money for an unpaid bill to his employer. The blog includes my name, the amount I supposedly owe, the reason he claims I owe it and the name of the company. The amount in question is a bill I disputed prior to closing the account and was resolved. It was for a product I never received and refused to pay for. Can the company make this employee remove my name from his personal blog if it is referring to a debt to that company that I do not owe? Even if I did owe it, is he allowed to post it on a blog?

I asked a question on here earlier about an ex-co-worker and got no answers. It was very thorough.
The bottomline is she had a failed home based business. She opened up a few business credit cards (two office supply stores and a gas card). She owes $1,200 on one of the office supply store cards and the collections agency has been hounding her for payment.
It is my understanding that she opened these cards using her Tax ID Number, and made it a point not to issue a personal guarantee because she didn’t want the business credit to be tied into her personal credit. The credit cards were issued under her business name, or, d/b/a rather (which is the company name).
After several attempts of trying to get her to commit to a payment plan, the collections agency told her they were putting her down as a refusal to pay even though she never said that.
We live in the state of Texas … what is likely to happen to her next? I have no experience with legal laws, etc.
I’d also like to add that she said they were naming off accounts from her personal credit report, and asked why she isn’t able to pay off the debt with them, although everyone else is being paid on time. They also mentioned her ex-husband and asked if he was still employed. They have been divorced for two years now.

Just curious what the ‘real’ average credit card debt load really is…my wife and I just took out a low interest personal loan to pay off our combined credit card debt of $4500 that we have lingering from college, we haven’t made any purchases on the stupid things for over a year…where do you stand?

Has anyone heard of Meadow Green Credit Solutions? Is it a scam or do they really help? I was approved for a personal loan but the process seems too good to be true without much hassle. I was told I didnt have to pay any money upfront—Anyone ever used them or know anything about them?

I’m a senior in high school at the crossroads of college applications, and I’m fairly set on pursuing a career in medicine; however, I’d like to know realistically, how much debt to expect plus any other fees (e.g. insurance) tagged onto the profession.
Please don’t give me just something you googled; preferably personal experience or that of someone you know well.
Thanks so much

Following the death of my father, my sister, who has $45,000 in personal credit card debt was added, because she is the oldest, as a co-trustee on the family trust. Her name will appear on mom’s checks and i’m wondering if her creditors will now come after the family trust? thanks for any advice you can give.

I have a hearing where the court will determine my ability to pay a debt. Certain property is exempt, but how can a court determine whether or not you own property that is non-exempt if its existence can’t be proven?
How can the court determine if you have any personal property besides cash, deposit accounts and autos/rvs/boats etc…

I incorporated my company in Nevada last year then applied for several line of credits. My corporation is a C-corp. I used an agency to help me applying for the line of credits and according to them, I’m the personal guarantor of the debt even though the line of credits will not appear on my personal credit reports. Business is not going to well so I’m thinking about folding my corporation. If I am not able to pay for all the corporate credit cards’ debt, will it affect my personal credit score?
