(Before anyone leaves the inevitable smart-a*, “deadbeat” remark, I’m not a deadbeat. I’ve been laid-off due to the economy 5 times in the last 7 years and the employers who laid me off gave me BOTH raises & promotions prior to the layoffs. I’m now re-employed by one of them.)
Rather than go into Chapter 7 or 13, my creditor (unsecured credit card debt) told me they would put me on the following plan “IF I QUALIFY”. They said they will ask me the qualifying questions on Monday.
5 Years to pay back the entire balance
2 to 3% interest rate
No fees
Payments will be 1.75% of the balance ($152 per month)
and after 6 months they will “re-age” the account to show it as paying on time.
Can anyone tell me what questions a bank has asked them in this kind of “qualifying questionnaire”? I’m sure it’ll be, “How much do you make presently, what are your expenses, etc.” but I would like to hear from someone with personal experience in this -negotiating with the creditor.

I’m a senior in high school, and I’ve accrued a pretty hefty debt from all four years. I’ve also just been accepted into a college. Altogether I need to come up with $2000 ASAP, or else I won’t be able to graduate or secure my position in college.
The problem: I’m only 17, therefore I can’t get a personal loan, and both of my parents just filed for bankruptcy. I have absolutely no financial support from them. Is there anyway I can get the money?

What is the best software program availble for Windows Vista that can manage my personal Finance. I would really like it so provide lots of different kinds of reports, organize my monthly bills, calculate my debt to income ratio, and lots more. I would like it to be real easy to manage. Bill payment reminders, download my bank and credit card statement? Any Suggestions?

I have an LLC that owned a bar. The bar owes debts to a few utilities, a vendor or two etc. The total amount being around 20k maybe less. Now its an LLC so my personal is protected but I have a couple that have personal guarantees. Those amount to about 8k. Now on the other side of the equation, I also went broke with the business, already lost my house to foreclosure, i still get calls from the company that gave me the equity loan on the house (20k). Beyond that I have utility debt and one creditcard but those bills are more like 1500 all together. My question is now that I have someone calling saying they are going to do an asset investigation on my personal and business profile. Well I can save them the hassle…Im broke with a car that bleeds oil and brake fluid and has 175k miles on it being my only “asset”.
I guess my question is do I file to protect myself from the business debt that I have personal guarantees with? I am willing to pay my personal debts, but how much damage has the foreclosure done and would it even matter to my score at this point to show a bankruptcy.
I just got the first paycheck from the first paying job I have had in several months and I need to get on my feet so I dont want to start seeing wage garnishments taken out and basicaly kicking me while Im down.

I have about 7500 in credit card debt. I know this may not seem like a lot to some people, but I’m only 24 and I bought a truck that I probably shouldn’t have and the payments on that are what’s killing me. I’ve decided that the last thing I want to do is get rid of the truck. I have fallen behind on some of my payments and am acquiring late fees and higher interest rates, and my credit is being shot to hell in a hurry. I have applied for several personal loans to pay off my credit cards and get one lower monthly payment, but I’ve been denied every time because of my poor credit. I don’t really want to go through a credit counseling service yet, because that shows up on my credit report and will further reduce my score. I have worked thorugh my budget with a fine tooth comb and I’ve done calcualting with differnt loan terms/interest rates/etc. and I know I can afford one, but how do I get one? Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.
I would appreciate worthwhile answers only, please. I’ve only had the truck since March, so my loan would be way upside down, and with my credit what it is now, I wouldn’t get anything reliable for the loan I’d get.
