Cheryl asked:

I want to file a personal bankruptcy (chapter 13) due to personal debts. I also happen to be a managing member of an LLC. The LLC is doing ok, and is not involved in the bankruptcy. There is nothing in our LLC operating agreement as to what happens if a member files bankruptcy. Given that, can I still continue to be a member of the LLC after filing for bankruptcy? Also, how do I determine the value of the LLC as an asset in my bankruptcy filings?

I owe 13,000 on 3 credit cards and have one year to pay it off. I tried Mint/Yodlee and it doesn’t help me get out of debt, it only shows that I’m in debt! Is there any software out there that can hold my hand like a debt counselor would?

If they are what does that say about John McCain and his outrageous credit card debt?

http://thehill.com/campaign-2008/mccains-report-more-than-100000-in-credit-card-debt-2008-06-13.html

This guy is married to $100 million, and is still putting off paying his credit cards? Maybe he’s taking the “I’m old, maybe I can just spend like no tomorrow because I’ll be dead soon” approach to personal finance. If he does that with his own finance, who’s to say he won’t do it in the White House?
Meanwhile, Barack and Michelle are carefully setting money aside for their children’s education down the line.

Stephen C asked:

My credit score is about 605. I have several credit cards with balances near the limits (about $45k), but no other credit problems. My wife’s credit score is about 640, with little debt, but some delinquent accounts from a few years ago. If my wife got a personal loan for, say, half of my credit card debt, how long would it be before my credit score went up, and how much would it be likely to go up? We want to buy a house soon (next month or two); would it be better to apply for a mortgage now on my wife’s credit, or try to get my credit score up?
Montly income (gross): $7300
My wife’s delinquent accounts are paid, they’re just still on her credit report. All of her recent accounts are up-to-date.

Tink asked:

Is it possible in our current market? If so, can it be in one loan? Say the home is purchased for $120k, can the buyer ask for another $20k for personal debt? Does this have to be done with a home equity loan?

Inflation rate? Wage increases? Stock market? Personal financial situation? Financial situations of those around you? Political blogs? Media outlets (both partisan and “real,” whatever that means)? Unemployment rate? National debt? Personal debt?
Using the methods you do, how do you rate the economy and do you have verifiable (as in provide a source) statistics to back up you assetion?

Nancy asked:

My husband has $20,000 in debt in occurred before we got together.12,000 of it is past due things he has stopped paying on, the other $8,000 is his car. I want to sale the car and get a junker for $1,000 or so. Then get a personal loan under my name because I have good credit and pay off the $12,000. We will take the money we would normally use on his car insurance (a junker will be a lot cheaper) and car payment towards the new loan. Is this the best way to go about it? Any advise?
