Xenon asked:
I was in a residential treatment center and had to forfeit my 2 cell phones valued at over $400 due to rules of the center. I was there for two months and have had an opportunity to voluntarily exit the program. As I attempted to redeem my personal property, I was told that they wanted their $300 “administration fee” although I was funded by the Department of Children and Families. I signed the form upon intake, so I know I agree to the $300 payment. But, they said that will not return my phones and chargers until I pay in full. Now, how am I supposed to communicate with prospective employers without my phones? There is something fundamentally wrong with their position about my phones! The director said that they want their money and are holding my phones in collateral although I was fully willing to work out a payment plan!!! Is there anything I can do? Can anyone help?

When filing for the distribution of a will in probate court, are debts also included in the personal estate value? For instance if a person dies with a personal estate value of $350,000; but has a credit debt of $3,000, is her estate now worth $347,000? or are her debts not even considered? Thanks in advance for your help!

Where’s my scooby snack? asked:
How to make sure this debt is real? It’s for well over a thousand dollars.

How to verify with someone this is a valid debt? My friend is a little nervous about calling the debt collection agency because they don’t want to give out any personal info over the phone or to verbally agree to make a payment.
Is there someplace else to call to find out? I know we have rights concerning this type of thing and that there are statute of limitations.

joy s asked:
Is there somehting called exempt rights, where you have a certain amount of personal items that you can keep when creditors take your belongings for payment? It has been 4 years of nonpayment. I wondered if there was a statute of limitations regarding this matter.
If you own your vehicle (no payments) can they take that to get the money for the debt you owe?

Bryan asked:
If each person was just given their portion of all the bailout money? How much would each person have been given? I know if we all have a million dollars, bread would then cost 50,000 a loaf. But, I’m curious couldn’t we have paid off most if not all the personal debt by now?
