David U asked:

I received a settlement letter from a collection agency. I wanted to take advantage of the settlement offer so I sent them a personal check for the settlement amount. I sent it certified mail so I have proof they received it before the offer is to expire. It has been over two weeks and they still haven’t cashed it and I do not want nearly a $1000 check floating out there. Should I put a stop payment on the check and resend a cashiers check before the expiration of the settlement off?

  • Judy:

The check could end up cancelling the check could end up cancelling the check could end up cancelling the settlement offer so wouldnt do that.
