personal debt
?Special Red Girlâ„¢ asked:

I’m stuck in a rut. Disabled & unemployed. No one wants to hire me because they see my Tourette’s tics & get freaked out. I alreadyhave my college degree, & employers overlook that & think I’m just a wacko thinking out of my head. What do I do?

I have credit card debt & personal loan debt from trying to replace my losses from Hurricane Katrina. I’ve been financially struggling ever since.

PLEASE DO “NOT” SPAM ME!!!!!!!!!

The only way you’ll know is to ask. Some companies will work with you, some won’t. It never hurts to ask. But cut up the cards. It’s better to do without than to go into debt any further.

Have you applied for SSI or TANF? I understand how you feel I had a close friend with Tourette’s and she struggled to get a job. If you get on TANF they can get you a job. The government can help.

You can go to to start your claim. There are alot of places you can go. I have a son who is blind and I am receiving alot of help.

EDIT: You should contact your creditors through phone. They usually can work a deal with you almost cutting the amount you owe in half. You should also write them letters. It helps to tell them your situation. Also if you feel as if you have been discriminated against because of your disability do not allow that to hinder you. You received your education and you deserve for your hard work. Fight for your right to get a good job. You should sue if it comes to you not being able to get a good job.

All I can suggest is that you contact the credit card company and the lender to explain your situation.Don’t wait for them to contact you.Everyone hits hard times and they will be more understanding if they feel you are trying to work them.See if they will temporarily lower your payments and ask about a defferment..You must have a government agency who handles unemployment cases so it would follow they would also have people who could assit you in finding a job.If you are not on social assistance explore this option as a solution. Some government agencies offer free retraining courses that will elp you secure employment.Do not give up, it will just take time.Take care of your health, try not worry too much. Trust me companies do not want you to declare bankruptcy they wan heir money.Work with them and in most cases they will work with ou.Take things one day at a time.Good luck..Take care

When you got your loan, did you sign up for disability/life insurance?. Being a former consumer bill collector, I can’t tell how many customers were still paying on their loan while out on disability and not realizing they had insurance to pay the loan. I understand some credit card co have that now but not sure how that works.
